The Week In Review

Apparently it is autumn.

Some new cottages, who have in common that they were "born" on the BPL MYOG Forum:

Miles Gear
Alter Ego Backpacking Gear
ZimmerBuilt

Jack shows off his gear for tenkara bike fishing.

Brian almost made it to the summit of Mt. Whitney. Read his honest tale of how he turned around due to Altitude Sickness, and went tenkara fishing instead.

JERMM made a MYOG backpack, and it has a sweet colour.

A first look at the LAUFBURSCHE huckePACK - in Chinese!

Zed's ZPacks Blast 26 has arrived, and he shares his new backpack in a nice first look with us.

Dave took his mate, a packraft and lots of enthusiasm on a trip to the Senja island in Norway.

Dug, currently on his PCT Thru-Hike, didn't get any sleep Wednesday on Thursday night. I reckon no one would if two cougars are prowling around your camp.

Amy was climbing in the Italian Dolomites.

Paracord Deployment Lanyard - a handy way to store about eight meters of cordage.

Rebecca hiked the old John Muir Trail, and it does look absolutely gorgeous.

Tookie reviews the Montane Terra Mountain Pants.

Roman was hiking and packrafting in the Meili Snow Mountain National Park, China.

We remember: Maz went to France to do the Classic Haute Route. His report of Days 1-2, going from Chamonix to the Cabane d'Orny, is ready for your reading pleasure.

Anthony muses on tenkara. He does so especially well, so if you're not yet convinced fo tenkara, maybe his fine writing will.

Patagonia wants you to buy less gear. Which is awesome.

The Jolly Green Giant has a new tent. A really nifty, pimped out, cuben LightHeart Gear SoLong 6 tent to fit him inside.

Colby has this week's superb set of photographs for you. His photos from the Wrangell St. Elias Mountain Biking Trip show the beauty of this Alaskan pearl in autumn.

James also shares some very fine photos which will get you longing for the outdoors.

Mountain Equipment celebrates 50 Years in the Mountains, and you can celebrate with them by legally downloading a whole set of fine movies and interviews with the likes of Reinhold Messner, Doug Scott and Andy Parkin.

Greg was in Mongolia. With his mountain bike.

In preparation for winter, read Darren's snowkiting in Kosciusko National Park post, and be inspired.

Get your fix of hiking on Hawaii.

Chad goes MYOG and makes an Underquilt for his hammock. Turned out rather nicely!

Andrew also made a MYOG synthetic quilt - but for cold weather and on top!

PTC. Purple. Haglfs. 2012.

Hugs For Hikers shares the Top 5 Outdoor Movies with us, which will surely keep us entertained during the coming week (one per day, mates!)

Erin, Hig and the kids go on the heaviest ultralight expedition ever.

Dave does a superb job of re-inventing the GoLite Jam with floating pockets, better side pockets and XPac.

More gear geekery from Finland and Peter.

Toby, Darcy and friends did a weekend warrior version of the Chugach State Park Traverse in Alaska. Obviously it includes bears. Darcy has some photos of it, too.

Ryan and Sam went climbing up Mount Temple.

Jrgen hitches a ride through the most dangerous parts of the Nahanni Canyon land, and then inflates his packraft again in search for a beautiful gravel bed. Read the end of his inspiring trip, and also check out the gear.

Mark takes a look at the Berghaus Knoydart Jacket.

Fraser reviews for us the The North Face Paramount Peak convertible pants.

Pig-Monkey took beautiful photos of the Valleys and Ridges of Glacier Peak.

Dave wants to Get High, Stay High, on day 2 of his Grey Corries trip. No mind-enhancing substances were used, as far as I know.

The American Grouch probably has the most beautiful canoe, and he went on a very fine trip with it. Otters, water fowl, beautiful camping spots and great sunsets sure make for a good time in the wilderness.

Mike's accused of underexaggerating times and distances in bikepacking. Or does he?

Dondo does the Rawah Lakes Loop.

Steven has an excellent gear geekery article on water, well worth a read as water is the most important thing we carry outdoors.

Martin reviews the LaSportiva Raptor.

Joe looks at appropriate autumn footwear.

You enjoyed this post? Why then not Like Nordic Lightpacking on Facebook?!
